Only three more days of work!

Countdown to unemployment: 6 Days

This morning started off well enough. I had breakfast with Brendan, one of my JVC housemates. I had a delicious breakfast Panini with bacon, eggs, and provolone cheese. We sat a couple tables down from Dan Savage and enjoyed our conversation. As I returned to my office, I opened my daily email from Idealist.org of newly listed jobs in the Denver and DC areas. There was not a single job that I was interested in and qualified for. That was very depressing.

My application for the day was a job with JVC at their national office in Baltimore as a Development Assistant. I would love to work in development or events.

Ideally I would like to work for a non-profit, think tank, or advocacy organization. I want to make a difference in the lives of the marginalized in our world. Vague, I know. I want to keep my options open, but be in a job that makes a tangible difference in people’s lives. We shall see what happens.

In terms of skills I have had a broad experience of jobs. I was a courier for a year and have raked up nearly three years of office work in advocacy and administrative capacities, so I feel more than qualified for these jobs. I guess it is just so much easier to consider people from the area and not from out of town. I just need to keep on trucking along.

I hope you are having a wonderful day.
